Peripheral Neuropathy

Peripheral Neuropathy: Hope through MicroVas treatment

Performance Rehabilitation & Regenerative Medicine has invested in MicroVas Therapy, the most advanced conservative treatment option available for patients that are suffering from all types of neuropathies. We have treated over 900 cases of neuropathy using MicroVas Therapy, with excellent results. See what our patients have to say about MicroVas Therapy.

The peripheral nervous system is classified as an intricate network of nerves throughout our bodies, outside of the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord). Potentially, many different conditions can effect the peripheral nervous system, the most common and life effecting is peripheral neuropathy. It can have a wide variety of causes; the most common are diabetic related complications (Diabetic Neuropathy), a side effect of exposure to certain chemical toxins, (Chemotherapy Neuropathy), or certain vitamin deficiencies. Accurate diagnosis is essential in developing a treatment plan that will reduce the symptoms and return the patient back to an active lifestyle.

The gold standard test to definitively diagnose neuropathy, as well as rule out other conditions, is the EMG/NCV (link to dx testing). Our Board Certified physicians will perform this test and review the results with you upon completion. The doctor may also order a MRI of the spine, certain blood tests or recommend a nerve biopsy.

Regardless of how you acquired neuropathy, the symptoms are due largely to damage to the motor (muscle strength) and/or sensory component of the affected nerve. The patient will perceive nerve damage as:

  • Numbness and tingling into feet and or hands
  • Burning sensation into either or both extremities
  • Loss of sensation
  • Difficulty with or loss of balance
  • Weakness in arms or legs

After an examination and screening process, if the physician feels you are a good candidate for MicroVas an appropriate recommendation will me made.

MicroVas Therapy: How does it work?

MicroVas Therapy is an FDA cleared technology that has effectively treated neuropathy for over a decade. MicroVas works by causing gentle passive muscle contraction and relaxation cycles to the muscles of the affected limb(s), via electronic muscle stimulation. This process increases tissue oxygen levels to damaged nerves, thus greatly accelerating the healing process. Our experience dictates that patients continue to report sustained results months and even years after the treatment has been completed. This supports the theory that MicroVas is building new blood vessels (angiogenesis) that result in sustained increased oxygen levels, decreased symptoms and returning you back to the activities you enjoy.

MicroVas Therapy is administered 3x a week for a 4-week period. Each MicroVas session is 45 minutes, performed in a comfortable and relaxing environment. After 12 treatments, your condition will be reevaluated and medical necessity for continued care will be assessed.
