On-Site Diagnostic Testing

Performance Rehabilitation & Regenerative Medicine is committed to our vision of providing a comprehensive orthopedic facility. Part of that vision is providing our patients with the convenience of having all of their diagnostic testing performed on-site (except for MRI). We have invested in the most advanced digital X-ray and video fluoroscopic equipment, diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound, neurodiagnostic (EMG/NCV) testing and JTECH functional assessment equipment. We also have phlebotomy capability and can coordinate processing with the lab of your choice. While we do not provide on-site MRI evaluation, we have relationships with several facilities in Central New Jersey that ensure timely appointments and diagnostic results.

Digital Radiography (X-ray)

Recent advancements in digital technology has revolutionized the imaging of the skeletal system. Digital X-ray has a very low dose of radiation, compared to traditional analog systems. The physician can have the digital image developed in seconds; it can be manipulated to improve the resolution and we have the capability to share the images electronically with other medical providers. Digital X-ray is also more environmentally friendly, as digital images don’t require chemical processing, as with traditional X-ray development.

Digital Video Fluoroscopy

Performance Rehabilitation & Regenerative Medicine has a medical procedure suite that is fully equipped with a state-of-the-art General Electric OEC 9900, which is considered the “gold standard” for video fluoroscopy for interventional (injection) based medical procedures. Video fluoroscopy allows the doctor to view and record a real-time X-ray. The pain management physician utilizes this technology when performing all spinal and extremity injections to ensure proper placement of the needle and precise delivery of the medication.

Diagnostic Musculoskeletal Ultrasound

In the last several years, there have been tremendous advancements in diagnostic ultrasound for the assessment of orthopedic conditions affecting the upper and lower extremities. Musculoskeletal (MSK) ultrasound is an essential tool for the physician and is often an extension of the physical examination. MSK ultrasound allows the physician to evaluate painful soft tissue structures (muscle, ligaments, tendons, etc.) in both static and dynamic environments. Often the information obtained from a diagnostic ultrasound is correlated with X-ray and MRI findings to develop a diagnosis and create a treatment plan. All of the physicians at Performance Rehabilitation & Regenerative Medicine have received advanced training in diagnostic ultrasound.

Neurodiagnostic Testing (EMG/NCV)

Neurodiagnostic testing uses specialized equipment that helps the doctor identify problems in the nervous system. The test has two components. The electromyography (EMG) assesses the function of the central nervous system and the muscles it controls. The nerve conduction velocity (NCV) component of the test evaluates for damage to the peripheral nervous system (outside of the brain and spine). The entire test takes approximately 30 minutes to complete and is performed by our medical physicians,  who are Board Certified in neurodiagnostic testing. The results will be available and reviewed once the test is completed, and the results are used to develop a specific diagnosis and treatment plan.

Functional Assessment Testing

Performance Rehabilitation & Regenerative Medicine is committed to mitigating pain and returning patients to the highest level of function possible. As such, we have invested in JTECH, which is the most comprehensive and objective computerized Functional Assessment testing equipment available in orthopedic medicine. With JTECH equipment, the physician/therapist has the ability to measure and document the patient’s physical and functional improvements while under care. This data allows your healthcare provider to modify treatments to obtain better results, faster.

Performance Rehabilitation & Regenerative Medicine is dedicated to providing the most accurate diagnosis possible prior to recommending a treatment plan. Every patient will receive a complete medical history and physical examination with all appropriate diagnostic testing. If the physician feels you are a candidate for non-surgical orthopedic care, they will advise you accordingly, if you are not an appropriate candidate, a referral will be made to another medical specialty.

IntraVu Scope

IntraVu is a new, innovative device used for specific injections. A small needle with a high-definition camera on its tip that allows for real-time video evaluation of joint injuries and precise delivery of biologics such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and adult stem cells. There are numerous reasons why IntraVu is beneficial to our patients, including the small size of the needle making it less traumatic for patients. IntraVu provides superb image quality with high resolution and allows providers to perform your injection quickly and accurately with precision.
