Doctors of Chiropractic have physician status in New Jersey, which permits the Chiropractor to perform examinations, order diagnostic imaging and laboratory testing and provide patients with a medical diagnosis for treatment or referral to appropriate medical specialists.
Treatment from Our Chiropractic Physicians
Chiropractic treatment is an excellent non-surgical treatment option for patients suffering from joint pain resulting from injury to the spinal disc or facet joint, osteoarthritis, and muscle spasm or sacroiliac joint dysfunction. In many acute or chronic conditions, one or several joints of the spine (or extremity) will demonstrate abnormal joint movement or restriction, resulting in abnormal pressure on nerves, joints, muscles and other structures. If left untreated abnormal joint pressure will cause pain in the joint and surrounding tissues as well a loss of function. The Chiropractic Physician is trained in the evaluation and treatment of abnormal joint restriction and motion. Chiropractic treatment consists of a Chiropractic manipulation procedure, which gently returns the altered joint to its normal position, thus reducing joint pressure and pain, while restoring function. The Chiropractic Physician is trained in many different types of manipulative techniques; the chosen procedure is usually based on the patient’s condition, age, body mass and health history. The joint manipulative procedure is most often painless and a very effective nonsurgical option for many patients.
At Performance Rehabilitation & Regenerative Medicine, the Chiropractic department works closely with the Physical Therapy team, recommending therapeutic and rehabilitative exercises. The Chiropractic Physician often provides nutritional and lifestyle counseling to patients, and also acts as the liaison to the Medical Physicians.
