Education: Dr. Skovrlj began his education at Fort Scott Community College and continued onto Middle Georgia College, finishing his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, magna cum laude, at Clayton State University. Dr. Skovrlj completed his medical school at the State University of New York Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY. He completed his residency in neurological surgery at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, NY where he also completed two years of orthopedic spine fellowship focusing on minimally invasive spinal surgery, deformity surgery and complex spinal surgery.
Expertise: Dr. Skovrlj is well respected in his field, awarded 10 honors and awards. Having authored more than 60 spine peer-reviewed articles, 7 book chapters, and presenting over 170 research papers at some of the most prestigious spine society meetings nationally and internationally.
Work Experience: Dr. Skovrlj completed his residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, NY, where he also completed two years of orthopedic spine fellowship, focusing on minimally invasive, complex spinal and deformity surgery. Dr. Skovrlj is affiliated with multiple hospitals throughout New Jersey and New York. He is currently the attending neurosurgeon at Interventional Spine & Surgery Group as well as the medical director at NU-Spine: The Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery Institute.
Special Interests: Dr. Skovrlj currently resides in Red Bank, NJ. He speaks 4 different languages including English, Spanish, Croatian and French.
